User Experience (UX) Your UX design agency for digital experiences.

Really good UX design goes unnoticed. But when it's missing, it really hurts.

User Experience as a Factor in Success

Success or failure? The verdict on an interactive application or a digital touchpoint depends heavily on the quality of the user experience (UX). That’s why our UX designers not only rely on their passion for their work, but also on modern methods – including user research and prototyping.

This is also how real innovation succeeds. In an online store with a completely new product presentation, for example, or fully integrated online jobs for an industrial company. Our investment in good UX has also paid off in the development of a learning platform that students actually enjoy studying with.

We could give you many more examples where UX was a game changer, such as a conversion-oriented interaction design of online calculators for an insurance company, and a white label client for displaying geographic information systems with a focus on mobile use.

Elaborately Developed for the Wastepaper Basket?

Our nightmare scenario is investing a lot in a digital application – and then nobody uses it. This can easily happen. If, for example, you are careless with user research and therefore don’t really know the needs of users. Or if users cannot immediately see the benefits of an application and how they can use it.

The obvious consequence is almost always the failure of an expensive development. In the worst case, an application that annoys users can damage a brand.

Convincing UX Design Strengthens a Brand

A successful website or app, on the other hand, contributes to the brand. The primary goal of any development must therefore be to design digital applications in such a way that they appear simple and clear to users and offer an optimal user experience – in short: simply make them happy. How complex the processes are in the background, on the other hand, is of no interest to anyone except our developers at FONDA Labs.

UX for Good Relations Between Man and Machine

Developments in the field of UX design are changing rapidly. It used to be possible to simply sketch out an idea and then implement it. Today this is a risk that can hardly be justified. With the increasing complexity of technical possibilities and the business models of digital services, the demands on the design of human-machine interaction and user interfaces are constantly growing.

User Research as a Solid Foundation

The first step is to find out what users actually need and want. We don’t poke around in the fog or rely on good old “trial and error”. We use modern methods of user research and extensive target group research to gather all the necessary information about users.

Modern Methodology for Optimal UX Results

Once we know what is required, we make use of UX methods to develop a coherent product for our customers – and above all their customers. We combine creative and scientific UX methods to create an extremely effective design thinking process. The end result is a user-centred UX design with well-defined user guidance for all features, which takes ergonomic standards into account and which has to pass professional usability tests.

Four Times “Yes” to Optimal UX Design

We are definitely believers when it comes to good UX. Whether it be websites, online stores or apps, we put every application to the test with these four central questions:

1.
Value-Proposition
Does the application bring an immediately recognizable benefit to the user?
2.
Usability
Can the application be used easily and without problems?
3.
Satisfaction
Is the user’s experience pleasant and positive ("satisfaction")?
4.
Consistency
Does the user’s experience of the application match other touchpoints and does it provide users with a consistently good customer experience?

Create a Consistently Positive User Experience

If you can answer these four questions with a resounding “yes,” then the UX designers have done everything right. But only a single “no” can cause an interactive application to fail.

The Eight Dimensions of User Experience

We go even further and complement these four essential questions with four other important aspects. These eight dimensions of experience determine how users experience and evaluate a digital touchpoint.

Why UX from Fonda?

FONDA is a user experience (UX) agency. And we can prove it: since 2005, we have developed more than 500 demonstrably successful digital touchpoints for different target groups and industries and introduced user experience as a new discipline to over a dozen companies.

On the User’s Side

Our UX designers effortlessly switch to the user’s perspective and uncompromisingly side with them. They don’t shy away from tough discussions with our customers’ stakeholders when it comes to finding the best solutions.

Specialized in Agile, Flexible UX Design Processes

We have grown over the years and refined our UX design process, investing heavily to stay current with the diverse UX methodologies that span multiple disciplines:

  • User Research
  • Design Thinking
  • Value Proposition Design
  • Sketching
  • Wireframing
  • Prototyping
  • Testing and Evaluation

It’s the Mix of Methods that Counts

Depending on the project organization and environment, we choose the appropriate mix of methods. This enables us to work effectively and efficiently with our customers’ development teams and agile software development processes.

Working Better Together

We also take on higher-level project management tasks of course, in the role of scrum master or product owner, for example. Our UX designers work closely with business analysts, UI designers and developers – regardless of whether they are part of the FONDA team or not. We always go through the five-step development process together.

Finding the UX “Sweet Spot”

Rockstar design is cool, no question. And silo mentality is comfortable. But neither of these approaches is effective in creating successful user experiences. Only in collaborative, multidisciplinary cooperation is it possible to find the real “sweet spot”. Once you have that, UX really rocks.

The “sweet spot” of UX design is the intersection of technological capabilities, business goals, and human needs. Successful digital services identify and use the overlap between these three aspects in order to reconcile the needs of users with their own business goals, while taking technical limitations into account.

Software Ergonomics According to the Highest Standards

At FONDA, we consider the EN ISO 9241 “Ergonomics of Human-System Interaction” and DIN EN ISO 14915 “Software Ergonomics for Multimedia User Interfaces” series of standards when designing and evaluating user interfaces. We also implement the requirements for accessibility and web accessibility WCAG 2.1 in all our projects, in a customized manner depending on the area of application and target group.

Mobile User Experience First!

One thing is clear: digital touchpoints are used much more frequently on mobile devices than on desktops. And the gap is widening every day. That’s why we at FONDA have been focusing on mobile user experiences for smartphones and tablets for years when designing websites and applications. Because if it works on mobile applications, it also works on desktops.

User Experience as an Internal Core Discipline

It’s really about making the world a little bit better with good UX. That’s why we’re happy to share our expertise and help companies establish the discipline of user experience internally. How do we do this? Quite simply and, of course, in a customer-centric way, by working with you to identify and support the necessary processes and organizational measures.

Conversational Interfaces, Augmented Reality Apps

Important UX Trends

Naturally, UX is primarily about simplifying the user journey, through linear user flows and progressive disclosure, for example. But we are also looking closely at new forms of operation – and there are many: in-app gestures combined with animations and Voice UI (VUI), as well as biometric authentication (Face ID) and “advanced microinteracations”.

Focus on the Essentials

The proven saying “Content is King” still applies by the way. This is why we are keeping a close eye on the current trend of content-centred experiences to reduce irrelevant information and elements to focus on the essential messages.

Presentation on the Cutting Edge

How content is presented is undergoing massive changes. New trends allow for exciting presentations through effective virtual reality and augmented reality, the development of which is now much easier thanks to new frameworks and full-screen experiences with high-quality images and videos

Interaction is Everything

It gets even more exciting when users interact. The new possibilities range from “emotional feedback” with animated emojis, conversational design with chatbots and cashless payments, to a higher proportion of gamification and intensified personalization and localization.
